Steampunk is what i’m going to be basing my gun project on.

But what is steampunk? Well here’s what it really is:

”Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction that typically features steam-powered machinery, especially in a setting inspired by industrialized Western civilization during the 19th century. Therefore, steampunk works are often set in an alternate history of the 19th century’s British Victorian era or American “Wild West”, in a post-apocalyptic future during which steam power has regained mainstream use, or in a fantasy world that similarly employs steam power. Steampunk perhaps most recognizably features anachronistic technologies orretro-futuristic inventions as people in the 19th century might have envisioned them, and is likewise rooted in the era’s perspective on fashion, culture, architectural style, and art. Such technology may include fictional machines like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or the modern authors Philip Pullman, Scott Westerfeld, and China Mieville. I personally like Steampunk because the style really interests me and and just looks really cool. The weapons involved look very original and have this certain style to them like the pictures below:

 

 As you can see the type of guns are more mechanical and have industrial parts to them which i find really appealing so when i work on this gun i want it to include these things

Steampunk shot gun – Prototype

 

This is a prototype to my steampunk gun. I used images from google to get the parts needed, in the the parts i used were:

1. steel tubes
2. gun handle
3. steampunk gun handle
4. dial
5. shotgun pump
6. small lightbulbs

I put them in the places i want my final gun to be. This is a simple gun model which i used a bunch of things to make it. i used photoshop to get it done, i used the mask to get rid of the steampunk handle’s original background and used the eraser tool to get rid of the fine details. i used the polygonal lasso tool to get the background of the pipes off, and the free transform tool to get them to go to the right size, also with the copy and pasting of the lightbulbs i could repeat it.

I think my final design should look something like this and i want to design the gun to something like this.

In my book i’ll go into further detail about the materials and shapes that i’ll use for my final model.
